Simply Great European Cities

Monday, July 26th, 2010

If you are thinking about visiting Europe then there are some cities, amongst the many great ones, that you absolutely can not leave off your travel itinerary. Within them you will find some of the world’s most famous landmarks and attractions. They provide a real insight into the varied cultures of the Europe, and no European holiday would be complete without seeing at least a couple of them.

London is amazingly diverse. More languages are spoken in London than in any other city in the world! This diversity creates an amazing variety of cultures that are reflected in London’s dining, theaters, museums, galleries and even its famous landmarks. Do not miss Big Ben or Buckingham Palace. Being a center of world culture, London offers shoppers the unique experience of finding the best in designer clothing as well as the opportunity to shop for many other interesting items.

Do not miss Barcelona. The capital of the Catalan region of Spain; it sits on the Mediterranean coast. Its unique culture and its interesting history are evident in its architecture, galleries and museums. You will find everything from Roman ruins to beautiful churches. Do not forget the beaches. Sports fans can catch a game of football at the Camp Nou. Camp Nou is home to what is considered to be the very best football team on earth.

The famous Italian city of Venice is set into a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. It is essentially many small islands joined together by a canal. At one time it was one a power base of Europe as a result of its naval might and strong trade connections. Whilst it is no longer a hub of economic activity, its grand and magnificent buildings and monuments remain as testament to its glory days. These days it is a very calm and relaxing place – perfect for a romantic trip away. For the true Venice experience, visitors should spend at least a few hours taking a boat trip through the streets. It will be something that you never forget.

Paris is known for being the romance capital of the world but it offers much more besides romance. There are several internationally renowned buildings and monuments to found there, including Notre Dame, the Arc de Triomphe and, of course, the Eiffel Tower. There is a general ambience around the whole place that can not be matched elsewhere, and the river Seine, which runs through the city, further adds to its character. Everywhere you turn you will find picturesque buildings, parks and quaint streets. Culture lovers will know all about th The Louvre, and there are many other galleries and museums too. The food is wonderful, and with a vast array of restaurants you will have no problems sampling it for yourself.

Travelling Alone

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Many people like to go on a holiday every year. Many go on holiday with their relatives and many go with their good friends. Whether it is luxury cruises holidays or bag packing around Europe holiday is a holiday. There are some people who like to travel by themselves.

I like to enjoy things in my own time and I won’t have too many responsibilities travelling alone than travelling with my family. When travelling with family you cannot have a travel free journey because you have some regulations when you are with family. There are certain things you won’t be able to do because of this restriction but when you are single you are free with no responsibilities to do what you want to on a holiday. This doesn’t mean anything illegal or something stupid.

By being free I mean you don’t have to worry about booking a place to stay before the holiday because you can easily get a room in a hotel in cheap prices. If you go with your family then you will have to plan everything before hand so that it doesn’t become a disaster holiday. 15 months ago I went on silversea cruises to the Caribbean, I didn’t plan my stay I just camped out with my fellow travellers and the locals. It was a great experience.

Before I settle down with my girlfriend, my plan is to go on a trip to South East Asia. I will be travelling alone as this is will be a great opportunity for me to learn about different cultures and also learn a lot about myself and others. I am also planning to do some volunteer work in India and Nepal for a children’s charity. After the hard work I will be heading on royal Caribbean cruises and enjoy the Bahamas with my lovely fiance.

Motorhome Getaways Assure Memorable Vacations For Your Loved Ones

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

Motorhome holidays and families are just a excellent method to go on holiday and invest lots of high quality time together. Does it not sound like much enjoyable to pack up all your personal stuff into your personal small house on wheels and tow it behind your automobile. It’s sort of like tagging along a mini hotel with you all of the points you require correct there behind you.

There are many benefits to packing a travel trailer rather than flying and staying in hotel. To start driving holidays are usually much cheaper than ones that require flying, there is so much more to see along the way to your destination, you can stop whenever you want and stretch and it is very comforting for children to have their own stuff with them when traveling.

With driving holidays it’s excellent simply because you are able to pack all your personal groceries which truly cuts down on costs whenever you aren’t eating out in restaurants 3 days a week. Plus you are able to pull more than and have your meals at any point rather than getting to wait until you come across a suitable restaurant. Looking for restaurants can not only be time consuming but it can trigger a great deal of tension and put tension on what is supposed to become a enjoyable filled holiday.

Vacationing games are the very best when it comes to becoming stuck inside a vehicle for several hours at end. There’s certainly something for each age group from eye spy and license plate tag for that younger children to punch buggy hit for that teens. Then there’s the parent preferred for all ages from the kids called the quiet game.

A potentially big downfall for the travel trailer vacations could be that they are more time consuming that just hopping on a plane and getting to your destination in a few hours. But if you look at it like valuable family time instead of wasting time then it turns out to be another benefit.

Going to airports are so crazy and numerous occasions difficulties arise like baggage searches and body searches which can put a bit of the issue into a holiday. Plus getting to show up 3 several hours early just to obtain via security on time can make kids bored and begin to fight.

The very best method to travel when going like a loved ones and if time allows would certainly be a motorhome holiday. As should you require a lot more reasons but the bonding time alone will make it all worth it.

Cruises To Get People Home

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

Few cruises not so long ago left UK to different countries to help the stranded vacationers in Spain, Amsterdam and many other European destinations. This is because the flights have been cancelled for few days as the volcanic ash are still covering the sky. One of the ship that left UK was Celebrity Eclipse cruise ship. They cancelled their launch on April 22nd to help the UK travellers who were stranded because of the volcano in Iceland.

Many people from the UK went abroad for a holiday to celebrate Easter with their family but they have been stuck their because of this. Few managed to come back by train or ferry but a lot of them are still abroad waiting for some help. Celebrity cruises arrived in the Southampton, UK on the 20th of April and then left for Spain. It departed to Bilbao, Spain to pick up over 2,000 vacationers.

The ship is dedicated to the UK and helping the British public in its arrival is a great thing done by the ship. The question is why didn’t they made their way home by train or ferry earlier, the answer to that is not everyone had money to spend on other transports. This gesture from the celebrity cruise ship will definitely come as a surprise to them but something that they dearly require. As you may be have seen in BBC news there was a massive smile on people’s face and also relief of knowing that a cruise is coming to help them to take them home. Many said they were relieved to know that they were going home and a big thank you to Celebrity Cruise staffs and management teams for helping them. Some are already planning ahead and thinking of using Celebrity cruises for their cruising holiday.

For me my next holiday will definitely be with Eclipse no matter if it is to silversea cruises or voyages of discovery, I will be choosing none other than The Eclipse saver ship lol. Celebrity cruises have also won an award of being one of the trusted surveys of consumer travel preferences in the World. This is another one of the cruise ship’s great achievement. They are definitely building their reputation in a positive manner.

What Are The Best Mexican Dishes Out There?

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

I will admit to saying that Mexican food is my favourite kind of food out there and I have yet to try a dish from the country that I do not like. I learnt how to make many dishes when out on my Mexico holidays and here is what I would serve up at a dinner party if I was doing a Mexican theme.

Chilaquiles

These are pretty much nachos but the American cheese and beans are taken away and you have nice toasted tortillas covered in either green or red salsa ( I have seen a mix of the two) with shredded chicken and sour cream. This works very well indeed for a starter to a Mexican night.

Nachos

For the people that like their less traditional nachos I would serve up the Tex-Mex variety. This one is lovely and it has beans, cheese, guacamole, sour cream and lovely tomato salsa. To add a bit of a Mexican element to the dish I will make it very spicy.

Fajitas

Although these are not really traditional Mexican foods I do know that they make a great main course so this would be my choice. These really do consist of tortilla wraps and you can put whatever filling you want into the middle of it. The best thing to mix in with the meats are mixed peppers and onions along with your sour cream and guacamole.

You cannot have a Mexican night without a Mexican dessert and for me this would be a very tasty orange flavoured fried bananas.

Vacation

If you have never been on one of those holidays to Mexico then I really would recommend that you go and this is simply because it is a stunning place with lots of amazing dishes to try and bring home with you. Failing this why not try one of those Dubai holidays?

Make Sure That You Don’t Miss Out On Any Of These Locations!

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

Are you thinking of going to Egypt this year for your holiday? Well if you are then you are in luck because listed below are the best places for you to visit when you get there!

  1. Ok number one on the list is a bit of an obvious one, the Pyramids of Giza. These are some of the most majestic wonders in the world, when you actually think about the technology they had to build these (which was none).
  2. This one encompasses quite a large place. The capital of Egypt Cairo is very busy, but still worth seeing. This is the best place for you to get embedded in the real Egyptian culture, especially for the markets and the bazaars.
  3. Somewhere down the line you need to pay the Nile a visit. This is such a relaxing experience, taking a leisurely cruise down the Nile, great fun for all. The boats are very luxurious as well, in fact they are the same sort of standard as 4-5 star hotels, and you can usually get them for a really cheap price.
  4. Head over to the Sphinx! You will be completely stunned by this creations prominence. This is the most outstanding “statue” in the world, it will leave you completely awestruck. Even today, we don’t really know why it was built, even who built, and what its exact purpose was!
  5. This last one is the Temples of Karnak. Everyone should go here! There is always time to visit the place that was once worshipped by the Egyptians to all of their gods, if not then make time! There is a monument there to almost every god in the area!

Now you know where to visit when you are staying in your Egypt hotels on your Egypt holidays! Don’t forget to visit Sharm, or stay in the Hurghada hotels!

Scotland Vacations: Visiting The Isle Of Harris

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Are you currently thinking about having a short break in the British Isles? Even though the larger number of tourists having a vacation in the United Kingdom of Great Britain choose to stay in well known places like London, other people prefer to stay in places such as Scotland. In the article below I describe the Isle of Harris and the factors which make it such a superb vacation destination.

Although London might feature some of the most highly interesting museums and galleries in Britain  and some of the most widely known tourist attractions  England’s capital city can not appeal to all types of folk.

Some people much prefer more sedate vacations and other folk would rather have vacations with more excitement for example sports vacations. Strangely the island of Harris, in Scotland’s Western Isles, is superb for both kinds of tourist.

Like many other people staying on the beach for the whole of my vacation is just not my cup of tea. Please do not get the wrong idea, I often spend time relaxing on a beach, and Harris definitely is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Scotland, however, I also enjoy spending time elsewhere while on a vacation. I love to soak in the atmosphere, which is often unique, I also like to experience the local food and culture. If the truth be known each year I enjoy visiting new places and I I spend a great deal of time attempting to find somewhere 100% unique. This is why, most probably, I enjoy visits to the Hebridean island called the Isle of Harris and why I frequently decide to hire Harris self catering houses.

One of the most common reasons  for visiting the Isle of Harris is to enjoy the islands culture and landscape. The culture of the Isle of Harris has, over 100’s of years been strongly influenced by the Scottish, English, Celtic and Norse races. Nowadays in general most folk speak in the Gaelic language and though many talk in English, it is most commonly their 2nd language. The inhabitants of the Isle of Harris are amongst the most friendly on our planet and their hospitality is world renowned. The Harris folk are incredibly proud of the amazingly beautiful Harris countryside and go to great lengths to keep the place tidy and clean so it is immensely important clean up after yourself.

It is incredibly important to keep in mind that discarded litter doesn’t just make the island look untidy it is also highly dangerous to wildlife.

Another vital thing to know is that the Harris roads are completely different to those found on the Scottish mainland single track roads are very common and you will often be forced to used passing places to safely allow oncoming traffic to pass but also to let traffic from behind to pass. All you need do is come to a stop on the left of the road. However, if it is a very big vehicle wishing to pass and the passing place is on the right of the road you may carefully pull over into to it to allow the said vehicle pass easily but take great care not to drive off the road too much.

I hope that artcile above sufficiently interests you in having a vacation or short break on Harris. Many folk the Scotland’s Western Isles choose to stay in two vacation destinations. There are a small number of other islands to visit including Lewis, North Uist and South Uist. Why don’t you consider staying in a self catering house on the Isle if Harris for a short while and then stay in a room in a hotel on North Uist or a hotel on South Uist for the remainder of your holiday?

South Uist Vacations Plus Some Handy Info

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

South Uist is located in the Western Isles of Scotland. The islands which are inhabited are Lewis, South Uist, North Uist, Isle of Harris, Eriskay, Barra and Benbecula and several hundred other islands which are only inhabited by wildlife. In the following article I talk about the Isle of South Uist and explain why the island is such a fantastic place to take a vacation, also I introduce some South Uist hotels.

The Western Isles are unique, they have wholly unique types of flora and fauna in a spectacular countryside with some of the most amazing coastline in the United Kingdom. The Hebridean culture is a complex mix of Norse, Celtic and Gaelic influences, which could also be said to be unique.

On the island of South Uist, especially in the western parts, you will discover the most beautiful beaches and behind these large patches land called machair. Machair is unique to this part of the world, it is a type of immensely fertile, low-lying meadow which is decorated with a mass of wildflowers in the spring and summer months. Many folk believe that South Uist beaches are the best in the country, Great Britain, and even Europe.

South Uist is also a superb place to play a round of golf. Askernish Golf Course is the oldest Hebridean course and it was designed by the famous Old Tom Morris (the designer of St Andrews’ Old Course) and some of the best in the country. Sadly the course was damaged and it desperately needs restoring before it can be played on again but you will find many other places to play golf across the islands.

Of course South Uist features plenty of opportunities to indulge in a diverse range of sports. Surfing and other water sports are incredibly popular and virtually everybody can enjoy a spot of rambling. Other than golf the most popular sport remains fishing though more and more cyclists appear annually.

Although South Uist doesn’t feature a copious number of galleries and museums it has enough to keep visitors entertained during wet weather. Museums like Kildonan Museum focus upon the islands history and its association with Flora MacDonald and Bonnie Prince Charlie (Charles Edward Stuart).

Places To Stay On South Uist

Polochar Inn is located in the town of Lochboisdale in the southerly part of the island. This is a 4 star hotel on South Uist which looks out over to the islands of Barra and Eriskay. All of the rooms are en-suite and they also have Wi-Fi.

Self catering accommodation on South Uist is superb for small groups and families. 10 Bun A Mhullin is a roomy self catering traditional Hebridean cottage/House on the Isle of Eriskay which is attached to South Uist via a bridge.

If you are planning a vacation in the Outer Hebrides please take a look at our listings of Hotels on South Uist.

Scotland Vacations: Visiting The Isle Of Arran

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

Scotland, in the United Kingdom of Great Britain, is a tremendous place to take a short break featuring a great selection of visitor attractions including some of the most highly interesting museums and galleries in the UK,  ideal countryside for ramblers, hikers, hill-walkers, mountain climbers and others of that ilk together with a huge collection of historical buildings, castles, fortified houses and stately homes.  Below I introduce the Isle of Arran and describe why this is such a fantastic place to visit.

The Isle of Arran is the seventh largest Scottish island and even though it is commonly grouped in with the islands of the Hebrides it is actually located in the Firth of Clyde. With tourism as the main industry on the island it will not surprise you to learn that there is an incredible number of Isle of Arran hotels. Though the majority of folk take vacations on the island in order to enjoy the beautiful scenery there are also a reasonable number of attractions including; Kildonan Castle, Brodick Castle Gardens, Arran Heritage Museum and Arran Transport Museum.

There are a small number of towns and villages, the most populous is Brodick, where you will find the ferry terminal with sailings to Ardrossan on the North Ayrshire coast. Lamlash, 4 miles south of Brodick, is where you can sail to Holy Island.

Lochranza is largest settlement in the northerly half of the island and will find the site of the ferry terminal with ferries running to Claonaig on the mainland. Please note that the ferry only runs during the summer. The village is set in a wide, and extremely picturesque, bay with the ruins of Lochranza Castle being the most popular tourist attraction.

The village of Blackwaterfoot is the largest on the western coast of Arran. It has a public house, a tiny harbour, a garage and petrol station. Alternative villages to visit are; Kilmory (south coast), Whiting Bay (south of Brodick), Corrie (north of Brodick), Catacol (in the north) and lastly Pirnmill which features the most beautiful beach on the Isle of Arran.

If you are planning a Scottish vacation and you are searching for Isle of Arran Hotels please take a look at our listings of bed & breakfast on the Isle of Arran.
