Short Breaks In Stratford-upon-Avon

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

Stratford-upon-Avon is an exquisite market  town in the West Midlands area of England in Great Britain that is exceedingly popular with tourists. Mainly Stratford is amazingly famous for being the town in which William Shakespeare was born and although nearly all of visitor points of interest in Stratford-upon-Avon are related to the well-known poet and playwright there are many different reasons to take a holiday in the town.

Located ninety one miles away from the country’s capital, London Stratford-upon-Avon is the finest place to see a play by William Shakespeare especially at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Even though the town gets busy with tourists it is still a fantastic place for a vacation.

The town is home to a huge selection of Jacobean and Elizabethan buildings and in places such as Henley Street and Sheep Street you will find those half-timbered black and white dwellings and other buildings. Henley Street is most well known for being the street where you will see Shakespeare’s Birthplace, however it’s also a superb shopping precinct. The oldest lived in house in the town is found on Sheep Street. The Shrieves House is thought to be one of the places where Oliver Cromwell lived in prior to the second battle of Worcester but, unfortunately, there is no actual evidence to prove the theory.

Stratford-upon-Avon Art Galleries

Stratford is a fascinating place visually and the town features many excellent art galleries including; the Montpellier Gallery, the Country Artists Visitor Centre, the Barge Gallery and the Retrospectives Art Gallery.

Other Stratford-upon-Avon Visitor Attractions

As well as the main attractions of Holy Trinity Church, the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Shakespeare’s Birthplace and Anne Hathaway’s Cottage there are many other visitor attractions to entice you. Those visitor attractions which might be of interest to you include; Stratford Brass Rubbing Centre, the Butterfly Farm, the Teddy Bear Museum and Stratford Armouries.

One of the most obvious features of the town is that it is situated on the banks of the beautiful River Avon. Nothing could be more pleasing than taking a river cruise. Besides the River Avon the town also has another waterway, the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal, which meets the Avon at Stratford.

The town is also superb for cycling vacations as it has many cycle paths including the Stratford Greenway which is 5 miles long. Cycling in the surrounding rural areas is incredibly enjoyable and a selection of gorgeous places to visit, for example Clopton Bridge, are found within an easy distance of the town.

Spending Time In Bournemouth And Some Useful Facts

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Bournemouth is a thriving, vibrant and fantastically exciting city, despite the unfortunate fact that it is known as ‘God’s waiting Room’. Bournemouth is called this because a great many folk choose to live here during retirement. However, the city of Bournemouth has an amazing youth culture, with a a high proportion of university and language students. Obviously such a place could be a superb place to visit however, there is lots  more to keep you entertained. In actual fact Bournemouth is surprisingly popular with people of all ages, one of the reasons why there are so many establishments offering bed and breakfast in Bournemouth to choose from.

Bournemouth is located on the coast in the south of England, roughly 100 miles away from of the English capital, London. The biggest town on the south coast, is greatly renowned for having 7m of breathtaking golden sandy beaches and sparkling rich blue sea. It is the city of Bournemouth’s fabulous location that led to it being an immensely popular vacation destination since the early 1800’s. It is difficult to imagine that in and around Bournemouth was,  in the very early 1800’s, little more than a barren and remote moorland consisting of mainly common land except for the estate of Sir George Ivison Tapps. The Tapps Arms, a public house, appeared on the moor in the year 1809, a few of years later, in eighteen twelve, a retired army officer and wife, the first residents, moved in.

Lewis Tregonwell and his wife bought a patch of land, from Sir George Ivison Tapps, on which the couple constructed a series of villas on the seaside with the intention of letting them out in the summer months for vacations. Tregonwell and his wife also constructed a summerhouse for themselves. and also started to plant an astronomical amount of pine trees, creating a beautiful sheltered walk leading to the beach, , the Invalid’s Walk as it became known.

Since those days the popularity of Bournemouth, as a UK holiday destination, has continued to increase, and, it is  widely known as a tourist haven for leisure, culture, fun, recreation and entertainment. Places which tourists love to visit include; St. Peters Church Graveyard, the Russel-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum, the award winning Central Gardens and Bournemouth Pier.

If you are in the process of thinking about spending some time in Bournemouth it is crucial that you book your  accommodation at the earliest opportunity as, unfortunately Bournemouth hotel and guest house accommodation tend to be alarmingly busy and are often fully booked months in advance. If you are travelling in a group you may find that Bournemouth serviced apartments prove to be reasonable option to bed and breakfast in Bournemouth.

Vacations In Leverburgh, Harris

Monday, July 5th, 2010

For hundreds of years sailing to the remote Scottish islands has really only been available to the very rich.  During the last few decades the infrastructure has improved greatly. The result of this the Highlands and islands are now accessible to most tourists and islands such as  the Western Isles (or Outer Hebrides) can now be reached via ferry or aeroplane. One of the most frequent reasons why folk visit islands, such as the Isle of Lewis and the likes, is that, even though tourism is a major contributor to the local economy, they are extensively unspoiled. In the article below I introduce the reader to the relatively small village known as Leverburgh on the Isle of Harris in the Western Isles of Scotland. Leverburgh is the second largest settlement on the island with the town of Tarbert being larger.

Most frequently the main attraction of Harris is the great many spectacular beaches which are situated along the west coast of the island. The beaches have some of the clearest waters in Great Britain. Beaches such as Luskintyre, Huishnish, Nisabost and Seilabost prove the most popular, but you must not expect to be confronted with masses buckets and spades, wind breaks, beach towels and sand castles because  it is more common than not to find yourselves the only people enjoying the astonishing views.

Most of the best beaches are found on the south of the island and all are within a few minutes drive from Leverburgh. The village features a number of accommodation including Grimisdale Guest House, with excellent self catering properties not far from the village and a number of crucial amenities such as a general store, Leverburgh is a excellent place to base yourself for a touring vacation of the Western Isles.

Staying in bed & breakfast on the Isle of Harris is a rewarding experience. The hospitality of the Isle of Harris is renowned the world over and all accommodation providers work extremely hard to ensure that all clients have a superb vacation. Guest houses and hotels are always spotlessly clean with clean bedding and towels and if you need help and advice staff are always highly approachable.

The spectacular landscape of the Outer Hebrides supports a vast array of flora and fauna, some of which are incredibly rare or unique species. Although it is rare to stumble upon naturally growing trees on Harris there are a small number of plantations in various parts of the islands. A small number of small pine forests where planted long ago and, thankfully most recent plantations are of naturally occurring species more suitable to the unique environment and certainly far more picturesque.

The human impact upon Harris is astounding long, long ago the island was tree covered. When mankind first lived on the islands of the Outer Hebrides, many thousands of years ago, they they lived on the coast. making a living by fishing and hunting, and using the trees as fuel, over time they settled inland. Today fishing is still an important contributor to the local economy and many inhabitants live on a croft (a small farm where they grow crops such as potatoes.

Crofting (farming a croft) develops land which is perfect for rare and endangered birds such as the Corncrake. Many species of flora & fauna, Golden Eagles are common place and around the village of Leverburgh are many excellent places to go birdwatching. Each year large numbers of birdwatchers (twitchers) arrive on the islands to catch a brief glimpse of a rare bird. Many visitors choose to spend some time in Leverburgh and then sail on the ferry over to the Uists to visit such places as the RSPB sanctuary.

If you are planning a vacation on the island please take a look at our listings of Harris hotel accommodation.

Brighton – One Of England’s Best Kept Secrets

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

Brighton has long been a firm favorite with those living in London, who are enticed by a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of life in the capital. People from all around the UK visit there too though, as do many international tourists, especially from Europe, who want to experience a traditional English seaside town, with all its charms and appeals. Brighton has so many things to offer it is impossible to see them all in a short period of time. There are theaters, libraries, concert halls, a beautiful and extravagant 19th century Royal Pavilion, a marina, a famous grand pier and not forgetting, a fantastic sandy beach. Brighton is much more than this though, the general ambiance of the city gives it an intangible advantage as previous tourists will, no doubt, testify to. Brighton is certainly one of the most culturally diverse places in the United Kingdom and attracts people of all metaphorical shapes and sizes. Not only is Brighton popular with the younger generation due to it’s University and large number of bars and nightclubs, it is also popular with people who have visited with their parents fifty or sixty years ago or more and have returned every year since. As for where to stay in Brighton, you are spoiled for choice. There are grand hotels, small guest houses, caravan parks, and everything in between. Try and stay close to the sea if you can though, because the view and fresh air are really not things that you want to miss out on. If you want the best cheap seafront Brighton budget hotels, then all you have to do is look online. By booking beforehand, you can relax as soon as you arrive. So, to summarize, if you want to experience a charming, typically English, seaside resort, then look no further than Brighton. Having been there once, you will no doubt be a return visitor, just like the most of the millions of people who visit there each and every year. Who knows, you might even be tempted to make it make it your second home!

Your RV will definitely have pots and pans, spoons and forks and everything else that will cause noise when the RV is moving. In order for you to keep your peace of mind when the RV starts moving, you have to secure these items that may cause noise. If you have cabinets in your RV you can place these items inside and stored in a plastic bag. Chairs and tables may need some securing down as well. It will be a practical decision to just use plastic wares so nothing will break.

Make sure you have all necessary things for your trip. Recheck everything once you pack. Make sure you have the following: extra gas can, appropriate repair tools, prescription medications or first aid kits, flashlights, candles and other important items.

What Does Costa Blanca Have On Offer?

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Costa Blanca is a massive region located on the Spanish coastline and believe it or not there are so many things to do in the area that it can be very hard to get bored, here are just a few things you may want to try out when you are out there.

Enjoy the coast

One of the main things to do along this area of the country is to of course enjoy the coastline and why not!. Make sure that you book at least a day of your time when you are out there to enjoy the sands and hit the waves. Also ensure that you are getting there in the morning to ensure you have a perfect spot for the day. White coast is of course what Costa Blanca stands for and this is the main reason for going.

Wildlife

There are so many things to do when it comes to wildlife in the area that is Costa Blanca and this is what you should head off to do next. If you like your undersea animals then the place you should look into going to should be the Mundomar theme park because you get to see dolphins and things like this. If you are into your Safari animals then perhaps you could go to Aitana because you will see animals such as tigers and elephants. Of course if you are up for something a little bit more daring then you can go on a driving safari because you will spot wolves and lions roaming free.

There are so many other things to do including markets and expeditions which of course is great and you should think about staying in a Villa in Moraira. If this is not something for you then look no further than Torquay hotels and self catering Torquay as these will satisfy your needs in the United Kingdom.

There Is Going To Be A Lot Of Time Off During The World Cup

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

It doesn’t take an expert to see that people are going to be taking time off during the World Cup this June/July and the reason for this is because it is a worldwide event that interests most of the people on the planet. It is not just the people that are passionate about the sport that are going to be having time off during this time period.

So many companies out there are in a bit of a worry because they are worried a lot of people are going to be faking illnesses for the month and this isn’t surprising. However if you are in charge of an office based business then why not actually be good to your employees and let them watch the game whilst they work. It is easy to set up a small television in the office for a month or so.

Another idea you could do is allowing staff to come in a bit earlier and leave a bit later so they are home in time for the matches.

If people are really thinking that they should actually take a month off ill for this then they cannot think of getting away with it! I would personally fire someone if they did that.

Like I said earlier the football fans are not the only ones trying to pull sick day or two or take a bit of a holiday. Many people are booking vacations such as spa holidays to try and get away from the football as there are people out there that simply cannot stand the sport. Caribbean spa holidays and Sri Lanka spa holidays are key destinations for these people.

So whether you are watching the games or enjoying a break from it all, enjoy June/July!

It doesn’t matter if you are watching the games or not you should always look into supporting your country when  it comes to things like this.

Costa Rica Points Of Interest

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

Costa Rica is home to some of the most beautiful beaches and parks in the world. The Corcovado National Park, just one of Costa Rica’s spectacular parks, was established in the 1970’s. Corcovado is extremely isolated and includes the only truly virgin rain forest left in Central America. Early in the 20th century, the area was considered so remote that it became a kind of penal colony, a place where people were sent for punishment. They survived by hacking down trees, growing a few crops, fishing, and panning the rivers for gold.

Corcovado Park’s amazing variety of wildlife includes scarlet macaws, jacamars, hummingbirds, harpy eagles, white lipped peccaries-also known as wild pigs-as well as jaguars, giant anteaters, sloths and squirrel monkeys. The park is a veritable storehouse of Central American natural history.

Other parks and fine beaches include Cabo Blanco Reserve at the southern tip of the NIcoya Peninsula, and the tiny Manuuel Antonio National Park south of San Jose, popular for its miles of fine white sand. You have to wade across a shallow estuary to reach the beaches, but it is well worth the effort and the short trip!

The beaches of the National Park of Santa Rosa in the northwest are equally beautiful and quite important. Two of Santa Rosa’s beaches are well known nesting sites for turtles, and the tiny Nancite beach is visited by thousands of Pacific Ridley turtles every year.

From Moin, on the Caribbean coast near Puerto Limon, a series of canals just inland from the sea run northwest to Barra del Colorado. These canals are home to sea cows, also known as manatees, large mammals that live on water plants and never leave the water. Some of the lagoons and large stretches of the beaches have been set aside as the National Park of Tortuguero. These beaches are the most important nesting places in the western Caribbean for the endangered green turtles.
